Does Dr. Robert Atkins And Other Low Carb Crusaders
Know Something The Rest Of The Medical Community Doesn't?

Is Fat Really The Body's Preferred Energy Source? It's a common misconception that the body can only use glucose for fuel. However, it is also a misconception that, as the so-called 'experts' say, the body will burn fat in large quantities only is when insufficient glucose is available as a fuel source.

They say the goal is to make glucose limitedly available and to restrict carbohydrate consumption to under 30grams a day. That's a pound of broccoli or spinach at the most and I have no idea how that's supposed to be enough carbohydrate for an entire day. These 'experts' continue by suggesting you do exhaustive workouts to further deplete your liver and bloodstream of glucose and therefore your muscles of glycogen (stored carbohydrate). At that point, your liver will supposedly start producing ketones, which they think gives the brain a fuel to work with.

Leads one to wonder, because I always thought ketones are converted protein. In other words, the reason people on low carb diets end up with saggy skin is because they are using protein more than fat or carbs for their brain and body's fuels. So the 'experts' are in fact, proving themselves wrong with the 'know how' they believe is making them 'sound' like they know what they are talking about. Its just TALK. Ketosis and low carb dieting has plenty of other disadvantages but there seems to be no stopping the current craze. For one, lard and monounsaturated fats can be the combination for a dieter and both Atkins and the other programs do not tell you that this is what their bars and shakes contain.

Another obvious disadvantage is the food selection. The body NEEDS carbs and this is precisely why you CRAVE carbs when depleted. If you simply ate cleaner foods instead of candy, junk and take out items, you wouldn't be as worried about the way you look or feel anyhow. Another clue something is wrong with a low carb diet would arise during exercise. If you are not getting stronger from weight lifting or gaining more endurance from your cardio work, it is because your muscles use glucose to produce the energy needed for movement.

If you are depleted, you cannot 'perform' optimally which also affects all other aspects of life. Think about it. If you lack strength or energy walking for 12 minutes, HOW in the WORLD could THAT be a sign of GOOD things to come? It definitely is NOT a good sign. These lo-carb experts say that your strength is easily regained when carbs are added back to the diet though. Well no 'duh' Sherlock. If you are WELL NOURISHED you are always going to function CORRECTLY..... So why intentionally malnourish yourself? To lose fat? Puh-leeze.

And the figures are all wrong too. According to Atkins, someone like myself weighing 220 pounds with low body fat would eat 4000 calories a day and require 200 to 250 grams of protein under sensible circumstances to maintain my weight. This also allows under his plan needing 331 grams of fat to maintain my weight! Does that sound healthy to you? I do not care if you eat only fish fat and flax oil all day. How much fat does the body really need before some of it ends up as TOO MUCH? NOT THAT MUCH. Listen, all diets fall into only one of 5 categories.

1. Low Carbohydrate Diets.
2. Low Fat Diets.
3. 40-30-30 Nutrition.
4. Food Combining.
5. Don Lemmon's Know How.

Don calls what he offers 'food separation' and as strange as it may seem, when you look for success, you will find it. But to have success, you have to not only see it, but go towards it so you are closer. Make the effort. And along the way we are here to offer a little guidance or advice. We have all tried these different diets and been fooled by marketing hype in the past. I have to ask though, has the author of any of the other top selling nutrition plans ever been willing to exchange emails with you to assure your personal success. No, but I am. Why? If you succeed, you will tell everyone you know about me.
